Hesa Handsome Prince (#5) sets the fastest time in the Idaho Cup Futurity trials.

POCATELLO, ID–MAY 5, 2024–Hesa Handsome Prinze got the nod over Sheknowsshesmokn to break his maiden at first asking on Sunday while posting the top qualifying time for the Idaho Cup Futurity at Pocatello Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from five trials contested today for accredited Idaho-Bred 2-year-olds, will return to Pocatello Downs on Saturday, May 18 to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-est. purse going a distance of 350 yards.

Ridden by jockey Oscar Cervantes, Hesa Handsome Prinze covered the 350 yards in :18.277 seconds into a 17 mph crosswind on a heavy racing surface.

Trainer Anabel Romero saddled the winning son of One Handsome Man for owner-breeder Julio Cesar Esparza. The gray gelding is out of Shesa Princess Daisy by Hez About Cash.

Runner-up in the fastest trial, Sheknowsshesmokn who was also making her career debut, held on for the second fastest clocking of :18.284 seconds.

Trainer Glen Jamison named jockey Jesus Flores to ride the daughter Daguerre for owner-breeder Edward Jamison. Sheknowsshesmokn is out of Smokn Mirrors by Jumpn.
