$17,000 New Mexico Bred Repurchase Sets Fastest Time On Second Day of Ruidoso Downs Schooling Races

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–APRIL 30, 2024–Javys Interest, a $17,000 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale repurchase, won the 9th training race handily today at Ruidoso Downs Race Track while recording the fastest time of the day, :15.802 seconds for 300-yards.

The 2-year-old filly is owned by Javier Rodriguez of La Feliz Montana Ranch (Hondo). She is by first-crop sire Suspicious Interest from Javys Brown Sugar by First Moonflash.

"We were surprised by the time," Rodriguez said after the race. "She seems to be doing so well at this point in her development, but we were extremely happy to see that race time go up."

The filly is named after her owner-breeder. She was entered in the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale last August at Ruidoso Downs. "There was a bid for $15,000 but I decided to pass," Rodriguez said. "We’ll see how that works out."

Javys Interest is the first foal from her stakes-placed dam. The second dam is stakes winner Required Fire, the dam of Zia Futurity(RG1) winner Jess Fire Chick.

Javys Interest is expected to compete in the Mountain Top Futurity trials for state-breds May 31.
