Four Sweet Kid Gets Second Career Win In $65,574 Desert Classic Futurity

PHOENIX, AZ—MAY 1, 2024—Second fastest qualifier from the trials, Four Sweet Kid returns to Turf Paradise for his second career win in the finals of the $65,575 Desert Classic Futurity Wednesday afternoon.

Jockey Alan Hernandez piloted Four Sweet Kid to his 3/4-length victory in :15.543 seconds clocking a 97 speed index. He got the jump out of the gates and didn't look back for a wire-to-wire lead to the finish line. The post-time favorite's winning time paid $3.00 to win on a $2.00 wager.

Trainer Diego Cervantes conditions the son of champion sire One Sweet Jess for owner/breeder Jose Aguilar Mendoza, who pocketed the $39,345 winner's portion of the purse. The sorrel gelding out of Loud Little Kid by Kiddy Up now has a two-win record from two starts with total earnings of $42,687.

Jd Dash Jr, ridden by Joseph Belloc Jr, chased the leader in a steady effort for place, which paid a whopping $19.40 on 40.30 odds. The son of Bodacious Dash has yet to break his maiden from two starts with $13,165 in the bank.

Jose Diaz German bred and owns Jd Dash Jr in Arizona out of the Jesse Jame Jr mare Reacorona Jr. Jesus Fernando Ortega Sr trained him.

Trainer Matt Fales conditioned Ruff An Rowdy, who ran in a steady bid for third under the guidance of jockey Cerapio Figueroa. The bay gelding sired by first crop sire Tell Cartel has a record of 0-1-1 from two starts and $9,307 in earnings.

Ruff An Rowdy is a Ralph and Carrie Fales homebred out of Macy Bay by Strawflyin Buds.

Handywiththesteel, Say Something, Kvn Negro To Blanco, Sweet Fire Wes and Fancey Like complete the order of finish. Tell Tyrus and W R Cactus Candy were scratched.
