Heartache Tonite Gets Second Stakes Win In $50,000 Mark T Bars Stakes

PHOENIX, AZ––MAY 2, 2024–Ralph and Carrie Fales' homebred gelding Heartache Tonite gets his second career stakes win in the $50,000 Mark T Bars Stakes at Turf Paradise on Thursday afternoon.

Trainer Matt Fales saddled regular rider Cerapio Figueroa aboard Heartache Tonite for his 350-yard victory. The duo led the field from wire to wire in :17.358 seconds clocking a 103 speed index. The post-time favorite's first place finish paid $7.00 to win on 5/2 odds.

Heartache Tonite has seven career wins and won his last three out of four starts this season. The five-year-old gelding's earnings total $122,309 after cashing in today's victory check of $33,425.

Some of Heartache Tonite's other accolades include a victory in the AQRA Quarter Horse Futurity, second in the Desert Classic Derby and a finalist in the AQRA Presidents Open Spring Derby and and Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap.

Fales Ranch bred and owns Heartache Tonite in Arizona out of the Good Reason SA mare Heart An Soul. He is the second highest money earner by multiple stakes sire Texas Icon.

Piloted by Jacob Enriquez, runner-up Whiskey Wes got bumped at the start but picked up speed for second by a nose. The son of Panama Wes has three career wins from 14 starts and now with today's place holds three black type titles, including third in both the AQRA Presidents Open Spring Derby and AQRA Futurity earlier in his career. His purse increased to $54,698.

Adolfo Armendariz Celaya conditions the four-year-old gelding out of Maur Bug by Corona Cocktail for owner Andrea Canales. Whiskey Wes was bred by Juan Estrella Chavero.

Ralph and Carrie Fales also own and bred Heartache Tonite's stablemate Chrissy Ledoux who placed third under jockey Luis Valenzuela. The five-year-old daughter of FDD Dynasty has six career wins win $104,885 in lifetime earnings.

Trained by Matt Fales, Chrissy Ledoux is a multiple stakes winner out of Jess One Looke by Jesse James Jr. 

Lightning Girl, Magic King Corona, First Bounty Boy, Thats Whats Up, Chocolate Wagon, Stone Cash and Go Seis Jr complete the order of finish.
