Johnson and Kellenberger Team Up To Qualify Top Three Times To The Dan Lockie QH Derby

MILES CITY, MT–MAY 5, 2024–Nito Skeeto breaks her maiden in her first out of 2024 clocking the fastest qualifying time to the $40,000 estimated Dan Lockie Quarter Horse Derby in trial three of five at Miles City on Sunday.

Jockey Kody Kellenberger took the reigns for Nito Skeeto, leading on top out of the gates and to the wire for a driving finish by three-lengths. The daughter of second-year-sire Tarzanito clocked a 99 speed index in :15.518 seconds. The 300-yard victory paid $5.00 on 2/1 odds.

Trainer Robert Johnson saddled Nito Skeeto for owner/breeder Legacy Ranch, Inc. The North Dakota-bred filly has a record of 1-3-2 from nine starts with $11,015 in the bank. She is out of Fourtwentyninedigger by Country Chicks Man.

Trainer Robert Johnson also saddled Kody Kellenberger aboard One Fabulous Dynasty for a victory in trial five with the second fastest qualifying time as well as Grit Eye in trial one for the third fastest time. Four horses from trial five broke the bubble to get into the finals.

One Fabulous Dynasty won his first out of the season clocking a 99 speed index in :15.520 seconds and crossing the wire 1 1/4-lengths ahead of Queenelizabethcartel. The son of One Fabulous Eagle has lit the board in every out with four career wins from 7 starts and $29,430 in earnings, including a first in the BHS Futurity and 2nd in the Valley Junction Juvenile Stakes in 2023.

Bob and Gary Johnson bred One Fabulous Dynasty in South Dakota out of Diva Dynasty by FDD Dynasty. Deanna Anderson and Casey Foster own him.

Grit Eye, owned by Brooke Buchholz also broke his maiden today and now has $5,190 in earnings. kari Buchholz bred the son of Hawkeye in North Dakota out of the Carters Cartel mare Marmalades Cartel.
