Osc Is On Fire Gets First Victory After A Photo Finish In The $20,000 Victoria Ennis Memorial

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 28, 2024–Osc Is On Fire (P) picked up his first career victory on Sunday at Remington Park in the $20,000 Victoria Ennis Memorial, a two-year-old stakes race for Paints and Appaloosas.

It was noses at the wire between the top three contenders who were side by side against an 8mph headwind down the 330-yard straightaway. But it was Osc Is On Fire who got the nod by a head over Readi To Wire and Chief Iron Eagle in a photo at the finish line.

Jockey Nestor Duran guided Osc Is On Fire to victory in :16.938 seconds clocking an 85 speed index on the sloppy track. The post-time-favorite's first place finish paid $5.40 to win on 5/2 odds.

Osc Is On Fire collected $11,730 for his victory which increased his lifetime earnings to $35,373. The son of Highest Fire has lit the board in every out with a record of 1-1-1 from three starts. He placed third in the Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity [G1] in March.

Trainer Juan Diaz Jr saddled Osc Is On Fire for owner Rogelio Sandoval. He was bred in Oklahoma by Wade and Susan Leggett out of Cl Oooh Sexy Lips by Jess Lips.

Readi To Wire (P) broke her maiden last month at Remington Park and placed second under the guidance of jockey Cordarelton Benn in the Victoria Ennis for her second career start. The daughter of Readi To Be Famous has $15,669 in earnings.

Travis Adams of Oklahoma bred and owns Readi To Wire. The gray filly conditioned by Luz Chavira is out of All Wired Up by CRM Livewire.

Just a head behind Readi To Wire was Chief Iron Eagle (Ap), who placed third under the direction of jockey Edwin Escobedo. The two-year-old Luis Villafranco conditioned gelding has yet to break his maiden from three starts but has two stakes places with $39,987 in the bank. He picked up his second place finish in the Oklahoma P&A Futurity [G1] in March.

Jose Vicente Robles bred and owns the son of Gray Chief (Ap) in Oklahoma. He is out of the Feature Mr Jess mare Feature Lauren.

Chromed Up Annie, Back Spin, If I Was A Cowboy, Zt Rocky, El Gran Martine, Linda Cartel and Pt Rex complete the order of finish.
