CRM Livewire Progeny Dominate the $26,000 PSBA Paint Classic Stakes & Wire Tap Gets The Win

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 28, 2024–Every finalist on the program for race #3 at Remington Park on Sunday was sired by the #1 Leading APHA sire CRM Livewire. His son Wire Tap got his third consecutive victory remaining undefeated for 2024 after winning the $26,000 PSBA Paint Classic Stakes for three-year-old Paints.

Wire Tap, piloted by L. Martinez, had an early advantage out of the gates and led the 350-yards from wire-to-wire The post-time favorite clocked a 90 speed index in :17.538 seconds on a muddy track against an 8mph headwind.

Conditioned by leading APHA trainer Matt Whitekiller, Wire Tap has won his last four of five outs but today victory's was a first in stakes competition from 10 starts. The three-year-old gelding's first place finish paid $5.40 to win on 2/1 odds and the $13,600 winner's share of the purse increased his bankroll to $35,387.

Wire Tap won two allowance races last month at Remington Park and before that, last year he won his trial heat to the Texas Hero Futurity [G1] but finished eighth in the finals. He was also a finalist in the Oklahoma P&A Juvenile earlier in his freshman campaign.

The Dan and Kaye Jones homebred is out of Lindys Sign by Second Painted Sign.

Storms Livewire, ridden by Javier Hernandez Gallardo, dueled to the wire for second by a neck over Tess The Wire. The three-year-old gelding broke his maiden early in his freshman campaign but has yet to win again. He has lit the board six of 10 starts with a record of 1-4-1 and $36,315 in lifetime earnings.

Darling Farms bred Storms Livewire in Oklahoma out of Storm's Promise (TB) by Seattle Fitz. Trainer Michelle Hurdle conditions the brown gelding for owner Edith Gutierrez Velasco.

Jockey Francisco Calderon rode Tess The Wire to her third place finish. The Matt Whitekiller trained filly, who has a record of 2-2-2 from ten starts and $53,886 in the bank, won her first two outs of the season in March at Remington Park.

Bred by Dan and Kaye Jones in Oklahoma, Tess The Wire is out of Princess Friona by Ausual Suspect. She is owned by Bryan Hawk.

Wired Red Head, Pevs Wire To Wire and Jess A Livewire round out the order of finish. Ancestry was scratched.
