OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 31, 2024–Jockey Edwin Escobedo won four races on Friday night at Remington Park to make the race for the season’s leading jockey a little tighter going to the final night of the meet on Saturday.

Escobedo scored aboard Chief Iron Eagle ($4.20 to win), an Appaloosa, in race one; Mr Charlie Brown ($6.80) in race three; Hologram ($7.20) in race eight and then Mr Painted Sign ($6.80) in the 10th and final to complete his riding quadruple. The four victories give Escobedo 41 wins for the season, now just two behind leader Roman Cruz (43) going to Champions Night on Saturday.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 31, 2024–Consignment contracts for the 46th Annual Heritage Place September Yearling Sale are now available.

The annual three-day sale will be held September 19 through 21 at the Heritage Place Sales pavilion in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Consignments are due June 11 and fees are $650, ($750 if withheld from sale proceeds) per head. A late fee of $100 will be charged to horses that miss the deadline. The commission is 5% or a $500 minimum commission, whichever is ...

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 29, 2024–Toby Keeton won the Jack Brooks Stakes on Saturday, May 25 with one of the most impressive 3-year-old American Quarter Horses on the grounds, RJ Having Fun. It was one of Keeton’s three wins on the week. Jockey Rolando Raudales pocketed four wins over the same period, May 23-26. With their accolades, the pair also can add Lip Chip Trainer and Jockey of the Week honors to their resumes.

CLAREMORE, OK–MAY 28, 2020–Will Rogers Downs was in the path of the Claremore tornado on Saturday night. Thankfully, the Thoroughbred meet had ended and only about 200 horses were on the grounds.

They have all been moved to FMT in Tulsa. Several horsemen rode out the storm in campers at the tracks KOA campground. There is a lot of loss and destruction.

Will Rogers Downs and Cherokee Nation Entertainment have been great in helping the horsemen; Fair Meadows Tulsa worked fast to open their barn area early so they could relocate all horses.

CLAREMORE, OK–MAY 25, 2024–Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma, was hit by an EF-3 tornado that caused massive damage in the State on Saturday (May 25) according to the National Weather Service.

According to Travis Noland, director of communications for Cherokee Nation Entertainment, which owns the track, the tornado moved east from Claremore along Highway 20 to the south end of the property.

"We have about 14 barns, 10 of them experienced significant damage. The others also experienced some damage, but not as significant," Noland told Sean Collins of The Bloodhorse. "The grandstand did experience some significant damage."
