VINTON, LA—MAY 25, 2013—Trainer Heath Taylor saddled his second stakes winner this weekend at Delta Downs on Saturday when The Lizzard King bested Charal Kid by a neck in the $25,000 The Develop A Plan Stakes(G3). Friday night Taylor captured the Louisiana Purchase Stakes with Fast Talkin Henry.

Under jockey John Hamilton the heavy post-time favorite did not disappoint as he completed the 350 yards in :17.200, a 102 speed index. he Lizzard King established a new stakes record with his victory. The previous mark was established by Charal Kid in 2011 when he won the race with a time of 17.341.

Taylor conditions the Valiant Hero homebred for Brett Mennen. The Texas-bred from the Feature Mr Jess mare Jess A Lil Bit has won six of 13 career starts. The $15,000 winner's purse increased the 4-year-olds earnings to $127,224.

Battled tested Charal Kid boosted his 7-year earnings total to $486,219 after picking up $5,000 for the effort. The Streakin La Jolla gelding trained by Fructuoso Huitron was hoping to capture his third consecutive Develop A Plan(G3) stakes. The winner of 18 races captured the stakes in both 2012 and 2011 . Malinche Cattle Co. Inc. owns and races the homebred from the Strawfly Special mare The Special Feature. Santos Carrizales was riding.

Flirtingwithamiracle rallied to finish a neck back in the show position, earning $2,750 for owner Nino Marina. Juan Saucedo trains the Dean Miracle 3-year-old out of Cp The Flirt, by Strawfly Buds. Bred in Texas by Patricia Potts, Flirtingwithamiracle has earned more than $91,000. Eleazar Hernandez was aboard.

Completing the field were Sparrow Contender, Katillac Man, Laynes Corona On Ice, Jess Fly With Me, Heza Gonna Dash and Dash For Cache.
