Trials For Hawthorne Futurity and Hadtobenuts Derby Contested at Sandy Downs on Sunday

SANDY, ID—AUGUST 24, 2014—Due to inclement weather conditions in Sandy, Idaho on Saturday the racetrack was forced to cancel races and move the Hawthorne Futurity trials to Sunday's race card. Also on the card were two trials for the Hadtobenuts Derby.

The 10 fastest qualifiers for both races will return to Sandy Downs on Sunday, September 7 and vie for the winner's purses in their respective races. The $15,000-added Hawthorne Futurity will run at a distance of 350 yards and the $11,500-added Hadtobenuts Derby will race over a 400 yard distance.

Hawthorne Futurity Trials

Getoutofthefsatlane broke her maiden under jockey Tyson Lusk on Sunday while setting the fastest qualifying time for the Hawthorne Futurity at Sandy Downs. The homebred son Ivory James racing for Bryon Goody posted a :17.824 time to earn a 97 speed index while defeating second fastest qualifier Abbysashine by a neck.

It was the first win in three tries for the Micheal Monson trainee. The brown gelding was bred in Idaho from the Streakin La Jolla mare Cruel Summer.

Abbysashine who was fourth in the Bitterroot Juvenile in June completed the 350 yards in :17.979 seconds, a 95 speed index. Leading trainer Monty Arrossa saddled the First To Shine filly out of the Special Effort mare Abstinence. Bred in Louisiana by Grant Farms, LLC, the sorrel miss was ridden by Jordan Hadley.

Hadtobenuts Derby Trials

Mike Harrigfeld's Wilmas Alright Now raced to his third consecutive win Sunday after getting the nod over Bf Candy Cartel in the second of two trials for the Hadtobenuts Derby. Under jockey Tyson Lusk, the Im Alright Now gelding recorded a :19.945 time to garner to top mark and earn a speed index of 95.

Micheal Monson conditions the winner six-time winner from 10 career starts. Bred by John Erickson from the Wizard Of Win mare Wilma The Wizard, Wilmas Alright Now has earned $26,365.

Utah-bred Bf Candy Cartel held on to the second fastest time of :19.953, also a 95 speed index. Alan Corson rode the stakes-placed Carters Cartel gelding for owners Robin Dunn, Larry Chapple and RTM Stables, LLC. Mark Hanson trains the 3-year-old out of Bf Lollypop, by Dash Ta Fame. Birrell Farms is the breeder.
