Five Bar Sassy Returns to Win Elko Intermountain Quarter Horse Futurity

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 1, 2014—Fastest qualifier Five Bar Sassy returned to the Elko County Fairgrounds on Monday to defeat Bettin On Fame by one-length in the $27,500 Elko Intermountain Quarter Horse Futurity. Pass In A Flash finished a nose back in third place.

Riley Moosman saddled Five Bar Sassy to her third win in six starts this season for owner/breeder Five Barkers, Inc. The Hard Hitting filly pocketed $11,000 for the winning effort to boost her career total to more than $19,700.

Jockey Justin Vanderwoude rode the black filly over the 350 yards course in :17.805 seconds, earning a 99 speed index. Five Bar Sassy is out of the Stoli mare Five Bar Fly. Earlier this season she was second in the Ed Giles Memorial Futurity at Laurel Brown Racetrack.

Bettin On Fame flew late under jockey Jose Marin to pickup the second place check of $5,500. Chuck Price conditions the Famous Lane gelding for owners Brittney and Jess Barto. John Price bred him in Idaho from the Rare Bar mare Jp Monicas Best Bet.

Under jockey Jesus Valenzuela Pass In Flash rallied for third. Owned by Antonio Chavira and trained by Jesus Duarte, the First Moonflash colt is out of Pass The Corona, by Corona Carte. Bred in New Mexico by Mike Abraham, he earned $2,750 for the effort.

Dinero Doble, Tell Her Twice, Shiney Version, First Rate Version, My Diego First, Gatorwood and Lil Dougie completed the field.
