Bh Lisas Boy Steps Up In Far West Futurity Trials

PORTLAND, OR—OCTOBER 19, 2014—Bill C. Hoburg's bred-owned and trained Bh Lisas Boy exploded early then cruised to the top qualifying time of :17.843 seconds, a 99 speed index, in the second of four trials for the Far West Futurity at Portland Meadows on Sunday afternoon.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from Sunday's four races over a 400 yard course, will return to Portland Meadows on Sunday, November 2nd and vie for the winner's share of a $12,500 purse.

Javier Matias rode the Mighty Invictus gelding to his third win in five starts this season. Bh Lisas Boy is an Idaho-bred out of the Snowbound (TB) mare Apollo Snowbound, the sorrel gelding has earned $7,505.

Secret Mountain got a neck win over Chicks R Gone in the third trial to post the second fastest time of the afternoon, :18.170 seconds. Luis Hernandez saddled the No Secrets Here gelding for himself and Juan Hernandez. It was the second win for the sorrel that entered the race off a sixth place effort in the Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe Park last July.

Also a finalist in the Pot O Gold Futurity at Sun Downs in May, Secret Mountain Pass was bred in Oklahoma by M.C. Nobles and Vessels Stallion Farm. Out of the Panther Mountain mare Icey Mountain, the sorrel has a (6) 2-2-0 record and has earned $14,185.

Lil Touch Of Dixie was an impressive 1 ˝ length winner in the first trial for owner/trainer Juan Leon. Co-owned by Martiniano Leon and ridden by Marcelo Cardoso the Sixthirteen (TB) filly posted the third fastest clocking of :18.196.

It was the third win four starts the David McBride Oregon bred who entered the trials off in the Prineville QH Futurity on July 12. She is out of the Hawkinson mare Lover Cat.

L Bar D Sweet Fantasy posted a neck win in the final trial to get the fifth fastest time of :18.250. Robert Beckner trains the filly by first crop sire Fantastic Corona Jr for owner/breeders Darrell and Linda Sanders. Matthew Werner-Hagerty had the riding assignment about the brown filly out of Das Home Deb, by Strawfly Special.
