PHOENIX, AZ—OCTOBER 20, 2014—Getting his first win in three career starts, Pyc My Wagon rolled to 1¾ length victory in the second of two trials for the Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes Monday afternoon.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the desert racetrack on Saturday, November 8 and vie for the winner's share of a $5,000-added purse going 350 yards. All trial participants were required to be maidens at time of entry.
Ridden by jockey Rodolfo Arvizu, Pyc My Wagon broke on top and extended to as much as two lengths before drifting to wire in :17.831 seconds, a 92 speed index, to register the top mark. Ubaldo Guerrero saddled the 3-year-old by leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner Juan Macias.
Randy Hill and Kendrix Brothers bred the brown gelding in Oklahoma from the Shazoom mare Parr For Shazoom.
Also lightly raced, Siege Rampart got his first official win from three starts under jockey David Reyes-Frisby in the first trial. The Streakin South Tong 6-year-old finished 1¼ lengths in front to record the second fastest clocking of :17.942 seconds, an 89 speed index.
Norma Reyes owns the Arizona-bred gelding out of My Banks Been Loaded, by Straight To The Bank. Benito Guillen saddled the Gordon Cowley bred runner.
