GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 15, 2014—Scarlett Hill Farm's royally-bred Lil Famous Dash held off This Eagles Gone by a neck to win the Grade 1 $291,868 Texas Classic Derby Saturday night at Lone Star Park. Rocketair finished half-a-length back in third.
A homebred daughter of leading sire One Famous Eagle, trained by Judd Kearl, Lil Famous Dash bounced off a second place effort in the trials to get her third win and first stakes victory Saturday night. Ridden by jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, the sorrel miss completed the 440 yard course in :21.632 seconds into a 10 mph headwind. The $129,882 winner's purse boosted her career total to $141,527.
"The way she got away tonight, I thought they would have a hard time catching her," said trainer Judd Kearl. They did!
Lil Famous Dash is out of the G1 winning champion producer Dash Master Jess, by Dash For Destiny. Her half-brother, multiple stakes winner Dash Master Jess will enter stud in 2015 at Scarlett Hill Farm, near Weatherford, Texas.

Graded stakes winner Rocketair was ridden by jockey Ivan Carnero for trainer Clinton Crawford. Karen and Preston Cloud own the Oklahoma-bred son of Jumpn out of Rivanne, by First Down Dash. Bred by Bob Moore Farms, LLC, Rocketair earned $32,105 to boost his earnings mark to $263,494.
For the win, mutuels were $27.40, $11.20 and $9.40. This Eagles Gone returned $11.00 and $5.80. Rocketair's third place finish was worth $12.60 for investors.
Completing the field were Bye Bye Eagle Eye, Ms Fast First Prize, Houdini, Wagon Full Of Gold, Separatist Firstdown, Big Dashing Perry and Bay Ba Licious.
