GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 15, 2014—At 13-to-1 odds, Torts On Fire surprised the field in Saturday's $860,519 Grade 1 Texas Futurity by breaking his maiden with a head win over Baby Eagle Glory. Fastest qualifier Cc Kachina Eagle finished a nose back in the show position.

Ridden by jockey Ricky Ramirez, Terry and Irene Stennett's Torts On Fire covered the 400 yards in :19.843 seconds, into a 10 mph headwind to get his first career win in five starts this season. Torts On Fire, a gelded son of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, entered the race off a third place effort to post-time favorite Lethal Strike and Bay Eagle Glory in the October 25th trials. Bred in Texas by Dunn Ranch, Ltd., from the Mr Jess Perry mare Queen Of Torts, Torts On Fire earned $372,117 for Saturday's effort. He is a half-brother to Los Alamitos Juvenile winner First Down King, whose first crop will race in 2015.
