Foxy Moonflash Posts Convincing Win In RG1 New Mexico Quarter Horse Fillies & Mares Championship

HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 26, 2014—Facing older horses for the first time in her career, Foxy Moonflash posted a convincing one-length win over Get Down Bambi Saturday afternoon in the $151,480 New Mexico QH Fillies and Mares Championship. Penny Snatchin finished a neck behind in third.

The impressive daughter of leading second crop sire First Moonflash picked up her third straight win (fourth this season) for owner Bobby Simmons and trainer C. Dwayne Gilbreath. Champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr. rode the brown miss over the 400 yard course in :19.156 seconds for a 102 speed index.

The Dosi and Norma Alvarez New Mexico-bred miss entered the race off a win just 30 days ago in the $207,482 New Mexico Classic Derby at Zia Park.

Out of the Rabbits Rainbow mare Diamonds N Rainbows, Foxy Moonflash has amassed a (10) 5-3-0 record and used today's $90,600 winner's purse to boost her earnings mark to $231,888.

Jaime Aldavaz, Sr.'s owned-and-trained restricted graded stakes winner Get Down Bambi also pushed her earnings mark over $200,000 with the $33,220 runner-up check on Wednesday. Champion jockey Cody Jensen mounted a late effort aboard the 4-year-old daughter Get Down Perry out of Chilly Force, by Red Hot Rhythm. Ann Thomas and Ginny Johnston is the breeder.

Also a restricted graded stakes winner, Penny Snatchin earned $15,100 with her third place finish for owner/breeder Jill Giles. Wesley Giles conditions the Gone To The Mountain 3-year-old out of Himaintenancegal, by Dean Miracle. She has earned $120,958 in 13 career starts.

Sir Jessies Girl, Sandys Jesse, Desert Delight Cash, Ofashionsoutherngirl, Averyspecialsouthern, Jessiana and Runin Sixes completed the field.
