Season Debut A Score For First Fancy Chic at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 25, 2015— Memorial Day racing at Remington Park drew a nice crowd out to enjoy dry weather for the first time in days in central Oklahoma. That pleasant weather lasted through the first six races before what seems like a regular daily downpour took place, dampening the final three events.

First Fancy Chic did not seem to mind the weather, making her season debut in a $26,700 allowance event for those seeking their second career win. Owned by Winthrop Ingersoll of Inola, Okla. and trained by Jeff Dean, G.R. Carter had the ride from the outside post position in a field of nine. The betting favorite at 5-2 odds, First Fancy Chic ran alone well outside of her rivals in going on to win by three-quarters of a length. She covered 350 yards over a sloppy track in :17.944 seconds.

Connery was second while Paint Candy Okay was third.

First Fancy Chic paid $7.20 to win, $6.80 to place and $3.80 to show. Connery returned $21 to place and $10.60 to show. Paint Candy Okay paid $7.40 to show.

The second career win from three attempts, and her first start at Remington Park, was worth $16,444 to First Fancy Chic, a 3-year-old Oklahoma bred filly by Chicks Regard from the Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Fancy. She has now earned $24,064 overall.

Dean picked up his second training win of the day with First Fancy Chic. He also saddled Mai Dashing Hero ($12.20 to win) in the opening race of the day. The pair of triumphs gives him 20 for the season and puts him into a three-way tie for the lead in the trainer standings with Eddie Willis and Clint Crawford.

The final four race dates of the Remington Park American Quarter Horse Season takes place Thursday thru Sunday, May 28-31. The first race on Thursday and Friday, May 28 & 29 is at 6pm. The final afternoon of the season on Sunday, May 31 starts at 1:30pm.

Open daily at 10:30am for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the $1,170,000 Heritage Place Futurity on Saturday, May 30.
