Jess A Comment Scores Second Win of Season in $20,000 King William Handicap

SELMA, TX—JULY 4, 2015—Ridden by jockey Luis Ramirez Jess A Comment defeated Db Captain King by one-length in the $20,000 King William Handicap Saturday night at Retama Park. Treys Diamond Cartel finished a neck back in the show position.

Trainer Mike Robbins saddled the 6-year-old to his second win in two starts this season. The 6-year-old gelding completed the 350 yards in :17.868 seconds, a 90 speed index into a 9 mph head wind. The $11,400 winner's purse boosted his career mark to $173,890 with a (24) 7-7-2 record.

Michael Amburn owns the sorrel Texas-bred from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Quick Fun. Raymond Loup is the breeder.

L. Tooter Jordan trains Db Captain King, a stakes winning son of Captain Courage, for owner Nancy Biggs. Bred by Dude Biggs, from the Sixarun mare Lizarun, the 4-year-old earned $3,400 for his effort. Ridden by Santos Carrizales, Db Captain King has made $67,125.

Benjamin Garza conditions Treys Diamond Cartel for owner Robert Gordon. Eduardo Luviano had the riding assignment aboard the 5-year-old son of Cartels Cartel out of Little Diamondette, by The Adamas. Morris Kirkpatrick and J. Simpson bred Treys Diamond Cartel in Texas. He earned $2,000.

Ja Jess Perfect, Fly Lil Curl, Don’t Text That, Jess A Dashin Man, Dm Just Jumpin and El Chinito Boy completed the course.
