Ms Red Ransom Breaks Maiden In Sun Downs Derby

KENNEWICK, WA—MAY 1, 2016—Ms Red Ransom broker her maiden Sunday when she posted a half-length win in the $3,300 Sun Downs Derby (not black type). Nita B Lucky finished second with Shimmie Horn three-quarters back in third.

Ridden by jockey Jose Madrigal, Ms Red Ransom completed the 350 yards in :18.186 seconds to earn an 84-speed index. The $1,815 winner's purse boosted the Hawkinson filly's earnings total to $5,048. Her record stands at (10) 1-2-1.

Jose Sanguino conditions the 3-year-old for owner Sanguino Racing LLC. Malon Cowgill bred the brown filly in Idaho from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Tombstone Tina.

Nita B Lucky, an Oregon-bred daughter of Chickspecialmongoose, races for owner Frederico Ortiz and trainer Silvestre Sanquino. Ruben Camacho had the riding call to earn $660. Larry and Gloria Nydegger bred Nita B Lucky from the Super Bow Dash mare We Nita Win.

Owned-and-trained by Juan Leon, Shimmie Horn is a daughter of Mitey Jody out of Termination Point, by Kipas Special. Hayden Brothers Ranch bred the brown filly in Oregon. Louis Zacherie was aboard. She earned $429 for the effort.

Secretly Fast and Date N Dash completed the field.
