Shesa Vivian Sets Top Time In Iowa Stallion Derby Trials

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 21, 2016—Under jockey Cody Smith Shesa Vivian rolled to a two-length win the last of two trials to set the fastest qualifying mark for the $40,000-added Iowa Stallion Derby on Sunday at Prairie Meadows.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Altoona raceway on Sunday, September 4th and vie for the winner's share of the purse going 400 yards.

A homebred racing for Jan Bockenstedt, Shesa Vivan completed the task in :19.890 seconds with the aid of a 10 mph tailwind. Trainer Tony Dean Jones saddled the daughter of Just Amazing Jess to her third win in seven starts.

Bred from the Mr Eye Opener mare Shesa Eye Of Rose, Shesa Vivian has earned $36,317. She was third in the Iowa Stallion Futurity last year.

Feature Me Leading rallied under jockey Storm Smith catch Tobys Sambo by a nose and set the second fastest time of :19.984 seconds. Kay Anderson owns the daughter of Cartels Feature.

Also trained by Jones, the sorrel filly was bred by Wayne Garner from the Special Leader mare Chargin To The Lead. It was the first win six starts for the filly who has earned $12,775.
