CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 25, 2016—Ridden by jockey Gerardo Garrido As And Js was a wire-to-wire half-length winner over Meserret in the $303,000 Black Gold 350 Futurity Championship Sunday afternoon at Will Rogers Downs. Carters Thunder finished a nose back to take third.

Saddled by Manuel Mata, As And Js completed the 350 yards in :17.660 seconds, a 93-speed index, over a sealed racetrack with no wind. It was the second win in four starts for the daughter of leading third crop sire Apollitical Jess.

Owned by Leonardo Alcala, the Oklahoma-bred filly was fourth in the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG2) at Remington Park in April. Five Puig Racing LLC bred the bay filly from the Tres Seis mare Adolph Tres Knockout. The $121,200 Black Gold winners' purse boosted the filly's earnings total to $210,866.

R.L. Rick Robinson saddled runner-up Meserret, a Brimerton filly, for owners Castula De Jesus Lopez and Marco Antonio Doria, Jr. Daniel Torres rode the sorrel filly our of Jess Shaken, by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by Bobby D. Cox, Meserret earned $51,510 for the effort.

Carters Thunder races for owner Darrell Edwards and trainer Donnie Strickland. R.D. Hubbard bred the Carters Cartel gelding in Oklahoma from the Strawfly Special mare Lady Bonafide. Ridden by Jesus Salazar, Carters Thunder pocketed $33,330.

E Catching Fire, B Double U, Knockemount Capi, Cartel Envy, Jm Texas Dominyun, Widows Devil and Fast Prize Ferarri completed the field.
