Thecartelofmiracle Gets Top 2-Year-Old Schooling Time Again, TQHA Sale Topper Is Second Fastest

SELMA, TX—MARCH 3, 2017—For the second time in 30 days, Thecartelofmiracle posted the fastest schooling race time at Retama Park.

Today (Friday) the Tough And Good colt clocked a :13.26 clocking for 250 yards, the best for 82 two-year-olds participating in 14 schooling races. The track also conducted two schooling races for 3-year-old maidens.

Trainer Miguel Medina saddled Thecartelofmiracle to his second unofficial victory for owner Mauro Luciano Villarreal. Ridden by jockey Francisco Calderon, the brown colt recorded the fastest time from 48 two-year-olds on February 3rd at Retama when he completed 250 yards in :13.60 seconds.

Jose Estrada bred Thecartelofmiracle in Texas from the Gold Medal Jess mare Its Jess A Miracle.

Trainer Leon Bard saddled This Is An Eagle to the victory, in Race 9, and the second fastest time of :13.46 seconds. Owner Mary Thompson paid $100,000 last July for the 2016 TQHA Yearling Sale topper in San Antonio.

Also, ridden by Calderon, the son of leading sire One Famous Eagle is out of the grade 2 stakes-producing First Down Dash mare Lady Lilia. A half-brother to Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity runner-up This Is A Deal, This Is An Eagle is from the family of Grade 3 winner and champion sire Desirio.

Trainer Jose Espinosa saddled Gianni Bailes to the third fastest clocking of :13.50 seconds, after the TQHA Yearling Sale repurchase won Race 6. Cipriano Vidana rode the son of One Famous Gianni, a half-brother to leading sire One Famous Eagle, for owner Luis Rodriguez. He is the first foal of a Valiant Hero mare from the family of Grade 1 thoroughbred winners Missys Mirage and Classy Mirage.

World champion/second crop sire One Dashing Eagle was the only stallion with two winners on Friday's training card. One Crusin Corona got the 9th fastest time of :13.65 in Race 14 while Lees Dasher recorded a :14.86 clocking in Race 4.

Additional sires with winners were Fantastic Corona Jr, Big Daddy Cartel, Furyofthewind, Bedouin Cartel, Texas Icon, Valiant Hero, Foose, Tempting Dash, Desirio and Jess Louisiana Blue.

Additional schooling races at the track are scheduled for March 17. Entries will close by 11 a.m. March 16 (Thursday) and the horsemen must furnish the track with copies of the front and back of all foal registration certificates.
