LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MARCH 8, 2017—Urschel 3-D Ranch, which campaigned multiple derby winner Rite Regal at Los Alamitos last year, and EG High Desert Farm, the 2016 PCQHRA Owner of the Year, were among the owners that unveiled promising 2-year-olds during the second morning of gate workouts on Tuesday at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Jose Flores, the Urschel 3-D Ranch-owned Ramped Up posted the co-fastest time of the morning after covering the 220 yards in :12.40 from the outside post.

The Foose colt is out of the A Regal Choice mare Flying Regal, the runner up to multiple stakes winner Revv It Up in the 2009 California Breeders Debutante Stakes. Flying Regal is out of the Jetsetting Girl, the producer of several top runners like Grade 1 Golden State Derby, Grade 2 La Primera Del Ano Derby and Grade 2 California Sires Cup Derby winner Girl Secret, 2011 Governor’s Cup Futurity winner Fixin To Fly, multiple Grade 1 finalist Gulfstream Five and more.

Ramped Up worked evenly with the Flores-trained Kindigit, a colt bred in Utah by Brad Hart, which also covered the 220 yards in :12.40. Sired by Tres Seis and out of the Strawfly Special mare Daring Diversion, Kindigit is a full sister to four-time winner Pandorum, which won the 2011, $89,000 John Deere Texas Juvenile Challenge at Sam Houston and the 2012, $45,000 Adequan New Mexico Derby Challenge at Ruidoso Downs.

Kindigit is also a half brother to 2015 Golden State Juvenile Stakes finalist Daring N Different. Kindigit’s dam, Daring Diversion, was third to Jumpn in the $35,000 Los Alamitos Invitational Stakes. She also competed in the Ruidoso Stakes against a tremendous field that included Corona Ease, Scrutinizer, Like Frankie And Me, One More Habit and Eye Yin You.

Trained by Yanet Rodriguez, and EG High Desert Farm’ Jessadeluxe is a full sister to 2013 All American Futurity runner-up Reagal Eagle, a winner of $467,790 during his 10-race career. Reagal Eagle also raced in the Rainbow Futurity and West/Southwest Texas Juvenile.

Bred by Grant Farms, Jessadeluxe is by One Famous Eagle, a multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire at Los Alamitos, and out of Corona Deluxe, a winner of $168,135 in her 21-race career. Part of that incredible 2-year-old racing crop of 2006, Corona Deluxe ran in the Ed Burke Million Futurity and Kindergarten Futurity in 2006 and qualified to the Southern California Derby, Golden State Derby and La Primera Del Ano Derby in 2007.

Other incredibly well bred runners that worked on Tuesday included the James Markum and Steve Burns-bred Favorite Cartel gelding The Revenant. Owned by Ron Hartley and trained by John Cooper, The Revenant covered the 220 yards in :12.80. His mother is the memorable four-time stakes winner Remember Me Rose, the winner of the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby in 2007, Grade 2 Sunland Park Winter Futurity in 2007 and Southwest Juvenile Championship and John Deere Juvenile Challenge in 2006.

Remember Me Rose also qualified to the Texas Classic Derby, All American Futurity and Rainbow Futurity among her 10-stakes appearances. A winner of over $820,000, Remember Me Rose is the mother of Jabulani, the third place finisher in the 2013 Sam Houston Derby.

Cooper also saddled Rod MacPherson Jr Living Trust’s Annas Babe Foose to 220-yard workout time of :12.70. The Foose filly is a half-sister to AJS Anna Smoke ($235,790), the Governor’s Cup Futurity winner last year. AJS Anna Smoke also competed in the Golden State Million and Ed Burke Million futurities last season. Annas Babe Foose’s worked with the Foose gelding named Worker, which won the dril in a time of :12.60 for Rod MacPherson Jr Living Trust. Worker is out of Working Girl, which ran in the 2011 Golden State Juvenile Stakes.

Flores had another fast set of workers towards the end of Tuesday’s drills, as the colts Smoking Cartel and Gusto worked in unison in :12.60. Smokin Cartel was bred in Oklahoma by Wallance Johnson and is a Corona Cartel colt out of Strawfly Lady, a daughter of champion AB What A Runner. Strawfly Lady is the dam of Captain Strawfly, the winner of the 2013 Dash For Cash Derby and finalist to the 2012 Heritage Place Futurity and Dash For Cash Futurity.

Captain Strawfly, which also qualified to the Texas Classic Derby, won six races and earned over $168,000 in his career. Smoking Cartel’s workout partner was the Ed Allred-bred Gusto, a Foose colt out of the four-time winning mare Warm Form. Gusto is the first foal out of Warm Form, who ran in the 2013 Miss Princess Handicap and Lantys Handicap.
