Jess Candy Politics Impresses In Wednesday Training Races At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 8, 2017— Facing the strongest head-wind of any pre-season training race day at Remington Park, Jess Candy Politics put up the top 250-yard time of the session.

The sunny day brought temperatures in the high 60s to low 70s, included southerly winds reaching up to 25mph. Jess Candy Politics did not seem to mind the headwind, cutting through to finish in :13.714 seconds over a fast track.

Owned by PV Quarter Horse Farms of Ratliff City, Okla. and trained by Clint Crawford, Jess Candy Politics is an Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old colt by Apollitical Jess from the Corona Cartel mare Candy Cartel. Jockey G.R. Carter was up for the impressive two-length victory as Jess Candy Politics appeared to have plenty of ability remaining while finishing in hand.

Trainer Cody McCart saddled The Carter II, a Carters Cartel homebred for owner Aaron Harvey, to the second fastest time of :13.79 seconds in Race 7. The 2-year-old colt broke clean for the front and was hand ridden to a one-length win in the final yards. The Carter II is out of the Strawfly Special mare Wanna Fly. He was a $5,500 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale repurchase.

Intense Fire, a $70,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, posted the third fastest clocking of :13.80 seconds for the partnership of Merrill, Cullum and Crispi. Also trained by Clinton Crawford, the Walk Thru Fire colt is from the Corona Cartel mare Remember Me Rose, winner of 2007 Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby. She is the dam of two stakes-placed runners from five foals to race.

Additional trainers saddling winners today were Eddie Lee Willis, Bill Valdivia, Stacy Charette-Hill, Jose Gamez, Manuel Almanza, Kasey Willis and Trey Wood.

First crop sires Hez Our Secret and Lota Pyc each got a winner on Wednesday's training card. Other sires with winners were Furyofthewind, Ivory James, High Rate Of Return, FDD Dynasty and First Down Mr Jess.
