Hotwiredotcom Leads Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity Trials On Opening Night At Remington Park
The top three Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity qualifiers Hotwiredotcom (#6), Dukes Lil Diva (#1) and Mkp On The Wagon (#8) came from the fourth trial.

Hotwiredotcom Leads Oklahoma Paint/Appaloosa Futurity Trials On Opening Night At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 10, 2017— Live horse racing returned to Remington Park on Friday night with the start of the 2017 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season.

The opening night featured trials to determine the fields for two major Paint and Appaloosa stakes races.

A series of five trials were held for the Grade 1, $112,000 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity with Hotwiredotcom posting the top time at 300 yards. Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Shirley Wheeler of Boynton, Okla., Hotwiredotcom flew to a trial victory in :15.632 seconds over a fast track, winning by a head over Dukes Lil Diva.

Trained by Guillermo Valdivia and ridden by Larry Payne, Hotwiredotcom is a 2-year-old Paint gelding by CRM Livewire from the Willie Wanta Dash (QH) mare Iwilliewantarunner (QH). Hotwiredotcom led a group of three that graduated to the final on Saturday, March 25.

Ridden by jockey Rolando Raudales, Dukes Lil Diva is a filly by the Quarter Horse sire Duke Kahanamoku. She earned the second fastest time of :15.657 seconds after finishing second in the fourth trial.

Dee Keener conditions the gray filly for owner Paint Horse Queens. Bred by Mark, Allen and Kim Henningsen, Dukes Lil Diva is out of Domestic Diva (PT), by Dos Poruno.

The only Appaloosa to qualify for the futurity is D Railed, a gelding by third crop Quarter Horse sire Freighttrain B from the Feature Mr Jess mare Jess Streakin (AP). Also trained by Keener, D Railed is a homebred racing for Jeff Adams.

Hotwiredotcom is one of three winners on the night for Wheeler. The prominent owner and breeder of racing Paints also visited the winner’s circle with JS Chickenpox and El Diablo Chicken, full siblings by SF Royal Quick Flash from the Game Patriot (QH) mare Game Chicken.

The Opening Weekend continues Saturday with an expanded program of 17 Oklahoma Futurity trials that begin at 4pm. Sunday racing begins at 1:30pm, featuring trials for the Oklahoma Derby and the first stakes races of the season with the Eastex Stakes and Mighty Deck Three Stakes. All times are central.
