Schooling races continued today at Retama Park. The Texas racetrack carded 15 of its 29 races for two-year-olds.

TQHA Sale Graduates Tops Retama Schooling Races

SELMA, TX—MARCH 17, 2017— TQHA Yearling Sale graduates posted the fastest-three times from 114 juveniles participating in schooling races today (Friday) at Retama Park.

The Texas racetrack was conducting 20 schooling races today with 15 contested over 250-yards for 2-year-olds.

Dm Corona Of Rubies, a daughter of multiple stakes sire A Regal Choice, won the final (race 20) for owner/breeder Dora Martinez and trainer Yasmine Fierro. Luis Vivanco rode the bay filly to fastest 2-year-old time of :13.40 seconds.

The $5,200 repurchase from last year's TQHA Sale is out of the Grade 3 finalist Prime Idol, by Prime Talent, a half-sister to multiple stakes-placed Ryon James.

Trainer Bobby Martinez saddled Whos Tempting Who, a son of champion/champion sire Tempting Dash, to the second fastest time of :13.44 seconds, in Race 17. Jose Espinoza paid $29,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale for the first foal from the multiple stakes-placed Sheaintcrynrealtears by Jet Cartel. This is the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Easily A Rouge.

Pete Scarmardo's homebred This Is A Deal Too won the 11th race for trainer Leon Bard in the third fastest time of :13.51 seconds. Francisco Calderon was aboard the Dealagame colt from the First Down Dash mare Lady Lilia. This Is A Deal, a $35,000 TQHA repurchase, is a brother to 2016 Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity runner-up This Is A Deal.
