Eos A Political Win Tops First Night Of Remington Park Futurity Qualifying

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 7, 2017—Eos A Political Win posted the fastest time on the first night of trials for the $1,032,400 Remington Park Futurity. The colt launched from the starting gate and set the best 330-yard time of 16.947 seconds over a fast track.

Owned by Elite Oilfield Services of Perryton, Texas and trained by Alfredo Gomez, Eos A Political Win was ridden by champion jockey Ricky Ramirez.

After the great start, Eos A Political Win opened up a clear lead over his seven trial rivals. He managed the best time of the night despite drifting inward to the rail from his number two post-position.

The Only Knockout(#2) and Political Attraction(#7) qualify from trial 6 on Friday night.

Winning his career debut, Eos A Political Win is by Apollitical Jess from the stakes winning Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Pithia. He was bred in Oklahoma by Rey and Celia Neito. The bay colt sold under the name Pyc Jess for $20,000 in the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale.

Leading sire Apollitical Jess dominated Thursday's trials, siring five of the six fastest times recorded.

The Only Knockout, a daughter of Apollitical Jess from Oklahoma Futurity(G3) winner Adolphs Tres Knockout defeated fellow qualifier Political Attraction by a neck in the sixth trial to get the second fastest time of :16.983.

The $20,000 Heritage Place Yearling repurchase races for owner/breeder Five Puig Racing LLC. Manuel Mata saddled with Paul Nieto riding. Adolph Tres Knockout, by Tres Seis, is the dam of last year's Black Gold 440 Futurity (RG3) winner As And Js, a full-sibling to The Only Knockout.

Hez Our Prize rolled to his second daylight win in as many starts in the final trial (Race 12) to get the third fastest clocking of :17.003. Clinton Crawford saddled the son of first crop sire champion Hez Our Secret for owner Preston Cloud.

A $15,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, Hez Our Prize is the first foal from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Pyc Oh Whatta Rose. Daniel Torres was aboard for the 1 ¾ length trial victory. Weetona Stanley is the breeder.

The aforementioned Political Attraction held on to the fourth fastest time of :17.019 seconds after finishing a close second in the sixth trial. James Flores had the riding call aboard the Apollitical Jess gelding owned by Terry McLean and conditioned by Gerry McLean.

Ron Lyles bred the $10,000 Heritage Place Yearling graduate from the unplaced Separatist mare Gunsight Peak. This is her first foal, whose third dam is the granddam of champion Apollitical Time, the dam of world champion and leading sire Apollitical Jess.

Darling Farms purchased the final qualifier, on the first night of trials, as an embryo at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale of 2015. Df Aj Green Leaves was a neck winner for trainer Charles Duke Shults in the first trial to clock the fifth fastest time of :17.073 seconds.

The sorrel filly is out of the G2 winning Tres Seis mare Three Green Leaves, winner of the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship. Darling paid $10,000 for the embryo consigned by breeders Kelly/Yearsley Equine. Ricky Ramirez had the riding assignment.

The Remington Park Futurity, restricted to eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds, will be contested for more than a million dollars for the first time on Saturday, April 22.
