Two Wins In A Row For Shez Hot Hubba Hubba At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 21, 2017—Shez Hot Hubba Hubba appears to have figured things out late in the Remington Park season. Sunday afternoon, she posted her second straight win in a $12,500-claiming level event at 400 yards.

Owned and bred in Missouri by Barley and Sharp Farm of Mindenmines, Mo. and trained by Larry Sharp, Shez Hot Hubba Hubba was ridden by James Flores. The 3-year-old filly posted a half-length win in 20.011 seconds over the fast track. Highway was next in second with Jessie Marie third, a head behind the runner-up.

Overlooked at 8-1 odds in the wagering, Shez Hot Hubba Hubba paid $19 to win, $7.80 to place and $5.60 to show. Highway paid $6.80 to place and $5.40 to show. Jessie Marie returned $3.20 to show. T Sixes was the beaten betting favorite at 5-2 odds, finishing fourth.

A winner of three career races from eight attempts, Shez Hot Hubba Hubba picked up $7,878 for her triumph Sunday to push her lifetime bankroll to $21,647. The Missouri homebred is by Furrtreeous form the Easily Smashed mare Annie Montana.

Leading jockey Ricky Ramirez has 41 wins for the season. His next win aboard an American Quarter Horse will be his 1,000th. Ramirez will have plenty of opportunities at Remington Park next weekend to reach his milestone victory as there will be five race dates from Thursday, May 25 thru Memorial Day Monday, May 29. The first race Thursday thru Saturday, May 25 – 27 is at 6pm. Sunday racing on May 28 is at 1:30pm. Then the special holiday card on Memorial Day, May 29 starts at 3pm.

A series of four stakes races are set for Memorial Day, all for Oklahoma-breds, including: $61,800 FL Lady Bug Stakes for 2-year-olds at 330 yards; the $61,800 Easy Date Stakes for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and older, at 350 yards; the $61,800 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes for 3-year-olds and older at 400 yards; and the $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes for 3-year-olds at 350 yards.
