Cm Boom Shakalaka, Duck Dash N Go Top Bitterroot Futurity and Derby Trials

SANDY, ID—JUNE 10, 2017—Sandy Downs kicked off their 2017 live Quarter Horse season on Saturday with six trials for the Bitterroot Futurity and two trials for the Bitterroot Derby.

The finals for both stakes, as well as the Bitterroot Juvenile, will be contested on Sunday, June 25th.

Randy Dickerson's homebred Cm Boom Shakalaka posted the fastest time for the $70,000-est. Bitterroot Futurity Saturday afternoon at Sandy Downs.

The Carters Cartel gelding was the first of two qualifiers for trainer Garth Blattner. Jockey Cordarelton Benn rode the bay gelding to his second win in as many starts. Out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Mi Fames A Dandy, Cm Boom Shakalaka recorded a :17.869 clocking to garner the top mark for 350 yards.

Trainer Monty Arrossa saddled stakes winner Duck Dash N Go to fastest qualifying time of :19.909 seconds for the 400 yard $15,000-added Bitterroot Derby.

Jockey Nakia Ramirez rode the Oklahoma-bred son of Coronas Fast Dash to his sixth win in 11 starts for owner Vicente Treyes. Bobby D. Cox bred the bay filly from the Tour de Kas mare Duck Mea Running.
