Glimpse Of Fire Bounces In TQHA Futurity Trials

FREDRICKSBURG, TX—JULY 2, 2017—Coming off a ninth-place effort in the May 20th John Deere Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge(G3), Glimpse Of Fire had no trouble defeating Driven By Results in the second of two trials Sunday for the TQHA Futurity at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds.

Ridden by jockey Claudio Aguilar, Glimpse Of Fire completed the 350 yards in :18.056 seconds into a 10 mph headwind to set the top qualifying time. It was the second win in four starts for the son of Glimpse Of Greatness.

Lone Star Alibi, under jockey Nestor Duran, sets the second fastest time in the TQHA Futurity trials.

Martin Rodriguez conditions the Texas homebred for owner/breeder Mario Rodriguez. Out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Pie Opener, the sorrel colt has compiled a (4) 2-1-0 record and banked $5,400.

The aforementioned Driven By Results stumbled at the start but rallied nicely under jockey Pedro Espinosa to get the second fastest clocking of :18.136 seconds.

A winner two races back at Sam Houston Race Park, the son of Hiclass La Jolla races for owner Juan Carlos Perez and trainer Manuel Roman. Francisco Calderon rode the Tyler Graham Texas-bred filly from the Mr Jess Perry mare Sixydeperry.

Lone Star Alibi captured the first trial with a three-quarter length effort over Alinas War Princess to post the third fastest clocking of :18.139 seconds.

Coming off a maiden win in his second start at Sam Houston May 8th, the Royal Quick Dash colt races for owners Alberto Vera, Jr. and Rene Vela. Trainer Eusevio Huitron conditions the gray colt out of Hempen Chics Alibi by Skirt Chasin Alibi. Alberto Vera, Jr. is the breeder.

Third crop sire The Louisiana Cartel was the only sire with multiple finalists, getting the 4th and 6th fastest qualifiers.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from the two trial races will return to Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 16th to vie for the winners' share of a $34,500 purse.
