Mr Eleanor Breaks Maiden, Sets Top Mark in Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity Trials

EDMONTON, ALB—JULY 3, 2017—Mr Eleanor broke his maiden with a 1 ¾ length winning effort on Monday to post the top qualifying time from three trials for the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park.

The eight fastest qualifiers, from juveniles sired by accredited Alberta participating stallions, will return to Northlands Park on Wednesday, July 19th to vie for the winners' share of $51,811 purse going 330 yards.

Ridden by jockey J.B. Botello, Mr Eleanor was a wire-to-wire winner over the 330-yard course in :17.159 seconds, into a 10-mph crosswind, to record the top qualifying time.

The Alberta homebred son of leading Canadian sire First Timber races for owner/breeder Teagan Goodsell. Allen Goodsell conditions the bay gelding from the Separatist mare Lets Get Going. Jb Uni has compiled a (3) 1-0-1 record since making his first start in April.

Coming off a fourth-placed effort in the June 18th Sport Of Speed Sale Futurity at Lethbridge, Jb Uni broke his maiden in the first trial with a three-quarter length win in the second fastest time of :17.373 seconds.

The son of Unification(TB) the win with a late rush under jockey Blandford Stewart. Trainer Les Webb saddled the bay colt for owner David Charest. James Butterfield bred the colt from the Holland Ease mare Tisa Easy Effort.

Effort And Speed got her first win in the second trial for owners Pete Schoeler and Larry Henderson. The homebred daughter of Its All About Speed was saddled by William Leech and ridden by Scott Sterr. In only the second career start for the sorrel filly out of Leaderoftheclass 103 by Special Leader, Effort And Speed got the 7th fastest time of :17.568 seconds.

Streakinisanattitude, a G2-placed son of Streakin La Jolla, sired three finalists including 3rd fastest Thisbudsforyou, 6th fastest Streaken Lady and 8th fastest Royal Northfork.

Trainer William Leech got multiple qualifiers in 4th fastest Alberta Krome and the aforementioned Effort And Speed.
