Mi Viejo Wins July 4th Jack Robinson Handicap at Pleasanton

Mi Viejo Wins July 4th Jack Robinson Handicap at Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, CA—JULY 4, 2017—Mi Viejo, a 4-year-old son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, rolled to a 1 ¼ length win over Primercartel in the $8,000 Jack Robinson Handicap (not black type) during the Oak Tree meet at Pleasanton Tuesday afternoon. Snow Coronitas finished a nose back in third.

Adriana Aceves conditions the Mexico-bred Mi Viejo for owner Rancho El Alacran. The sorrel colt completed the 350 yards in :17.944 seconds to earn a 95-speed index.

Bred from the Thoroughbred mare Lady of Lake, by Salt Lake, Mi Viejo pocketed the $4,400 winner's purse to boost his earnings total to more than $160,000. Bred by Joaquin Vega, Mi Viejo qualified to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Million and Grade 1 Golden State Futurities at Los Alamitos Race Course as a 2-yaer-old.

Primercartel, a 9-year-old son of Prime Talent, picked dup $1,600 for second. A stakes winner, the brown gelding races for owner/breeders Isaias and Etelvina Olmos. Isaura Guillen saddled the California-bred with Luis Alberto Godoy getting the riding call. The home-bred is out Dash's Wind walker by Dash Thru Traffic.

Snowy Coronitas is a Count Corona 5-year-old owned by Cadre Mariscal. Also trained by Adriana Aceves, the brown gelding was ridden by Jesus Arriaga. Luis Mariscal bred Snowy Coronitas in California from the This Snow Is Royal mare Snow Memory. He earned $960.

Completing the official order of finish were Paint A Candy Storm, Java April Fool, Porscha Berry, You Do The Math and Tio Pepe Balvoa.
