Burst of Dash Surprises in Come Six Stakes at Arapahoe

AURORA, CO— JULY 8, 2017—Burst Of Dash burst from the gate and was the wire-to-wire winner in Saturday’s $13,800 Come Six Stakes (not black type) at Arapahoe Park. Ridden by Manuel Meza, Burst Of Dash covered the 400-yard distance in 19.910 and earned a 91 speed index.

Burst Of Dash ($39.60) was the second longest shot on the board, despite morning-line odds of 8-1. David Palafox owns and trains the 5-year-old gray gelding by Dashin Bye, out of the My Eye Opener mare Iza Flyin Eye. Burst of Dash was bred in Colorado by Richard and Genevieve Herrman. This was his first stakes win; he has now earned over $55,000 in 19 lifetime starts.

Completing the pricey exacta was the longest shot in the field, Iba Jp. Jockey Edwin Pena and Iba Jp finished a half-length behind Burst of Dash for owner by Jonathan Zambrano and trainer Zachary Quezada.

Bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter and Burnett Ranches, Iba Jp is by Mr Jess Perry, out of Iba Special by Strawfly Special. Iba Jp is a 7-year-old gelding whose start in the Come Six Stakes was his first in nearly two years; he was last seen at Albuquerque in September 2017.

Hearts Ona Hero broke out at the start from his outside post but finished a length and a half behind the winner and a head in front of post-time favorite, Toshi Yoshi. Hearts Ona Hero was ridden by Alfredo Triana, Jr for trainer Miguel Pena and owner Santos Lopez.

Hearts Ona Hero was bred in Oklahoma by Homer A. Hill. The 4-year-old gelding is by Valiant Hero and is out of the Dashin Is Easy mare Dashing Uno.

Completing the field were Toshi Yoshi, Dauns First Desirio, Sweet Solid Rock and Im Beau Brown.
