Mr Eleanor Dominates Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity

EDMONTON, ALB—JULY 20, 2017—Fastest qualifier Mr Eleanor returned to action Wednesday afternoon with a dominating performance in the $40,206(US) Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park.

Ridden by jockey J. Botello, Mr Eleanor romped over the 330 yards in a quick :16.691 seconds, a 103-speed index, to defeat Alberta Krome by 2-˝ lengths. It was the second win in four starts this season for 2-year-old son of leading Canadian sire First Timber.

Trainer Allen Goodsell saddled the bay gelding for owner/breeder Tegan Goodsell. The $18,462(US) "Stallion Stakes" winner's purse boosted Mr Eleanor's earnings total to $22,639.

Mr Eleanor is out of the Separatist mare Lets Get Going.

Runner-up Alberta Krome bobbled the start under jockey Scott Sterr but rallied to finish second. Conditioned by trainer William Leech, the son of Sizzlin Red Corona, bounced off a third-place troubled effort in the July 3rd trials.

The sorrel gelding races for Leech and Edward Vanee. Bred by Leech, from the Dashing Cleat mare Cleats Rockette, Alberta Krome earned $8,206(US) for the effort.

Thisbudsforyou, a son of Streakinisanattitude, finished half-a-length back, under jockey Blandford Steward, to earn $4,923(US) for third. Still a maiden from three starts, Thisbudsforyou races for owner Delton Gehring and trainer George Ron Scott. K. Glenn Willis bred the bay gelding from the King's Nest Thoroughbred mare Highnest.

Effort And Speed, Miracle Candy Girl, Streakin Lady and Royal Northfork completed the field.
