Jjsir James Steps Up In North Central QH Racing Association Futurity Trials

SHAKOPEE, MN—JULY 23, 2017—The lightly raced Jjsir James picked up his second career win in as many starts on Sunday when he rolled to a 1 ¼ length win to get the fastest qualifying time for the North Central QH Racing Association Futurity at Canterbury Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from five trial races contested Sunday, will return to Canterbury Park on Sunday, August 6 to vie for the winner's share of a $52,600 purse going 350 yards.

Ridden by jockey Justine Klaiber, Jjsir James broke third but quickly surged to an easy win while stopping the clock in :17.890 seconds, a 98-speed index into a 25-mph crosswind, and the top qualifying mark.

Coming off a two-length win at Brown County in his first start on May 29, the son of multiple stakes sire Jesse James Jr is conditioned by trainer Randall Weidner. The South Dakota homebred races for owner/breeder Jerry Olson and is out of the Its Royal Time mare It’s a Predy Lady.

Marfilmio, a Texas-bred by Ivory James, broke his maiden in the second trial to get the second fastest clocking of :17.909 seconds. The gray colt ducked in at the break under jockey Ismael Ricardo Suarez while earning a 95-speed index into a 15-mph crosswind.

Victor Hanson conditions Marfilmio for owners David and Debra Harsche. Bobby D. Cox bred the colt from the Mr Jess Perry mare Sinuous. He has compiled a (5) 1-2-0 record and banked nearly $10,000 this year.

Dickey Bob took charge in the opening trial for trainer Jason Olmstead and rolled a 1½ length win while getting the third fastest time of :17.936 seconds, a 94-speed index into a 22-mph crosswind. The Minnesota homebred racing for owner/breeder Lunderborg LLC was the first of five finalists quailed by Olmstead.

Jockey Brayan Velazquez was aboard the Apollitical Jess gelding out of Paint Or More by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Kicking off his career at Remington Park in the Spring, Dickey Bob has compiled a (5) 2-2-0 record and banked $17,420.

Olmstead also saddled 4th fastest First Of 15, 6th fastest Eagle Deluxe, 7th fastest I Told You Im Fancy and 8th fastest Cannalytical.
