Lightly Raced Tough Dynasty 123 Best in Rainbow Juvenile Invitational

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 23, 2017—Carolyn Bay's Minnesota homebred stepped up in just his second career start to break his maiden with a half-length win over Hes Limitless in the $100,000 Rainbow Juvenile Invitational Sunday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs. Jess Shantastic finished a neck back in the show position.

Tough Dynasty 123 drifted in under jockey Jose Montoya while completing the 400 yards in :19.910 seconds with a 6-mph tailwind. Longtime trainer C. Dwayne Gilbreath saddled the FDD Dynasty colt to his first win.

The $42,000 winner's purse brings the brown gelding's earnings mark to $42,800.

Tough Dynasty 123 is rounding into form with the All American Futurity trials on the on the horizon, August 18-19. In his only other start, his Rainbow Futurity trial, he was second by nose while racing the 400 yards in :19.991.

"He’s been late to mature," said Gilbreath. "I think distance will be good for him and the (440 yard) All American Futurity trials are next."

Tough Dynasty’s half-brother, world champion Cold Cash 123 developed at this time of year for Gilbreath. He won the $150,000 All American Juvenile and then took the Southwest Juvenile Championship at Sunland Park. As a 3-year-old, Cold Cash 123 won the Grade 1, $899,524 Rainbow Derby, the Grade 1 $335,631Texas Classic Derby and the Grade 1, $245,000 The Championship at Sunland Park.

Runner-up Hes Limitless is a royally-bred son of leading sire Corona Cartel out of Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner Pj Chick In Black by Desirio. Winless in three starts the Jack Smith Farms owned runner has finished second twice and third once to bank $20,728 this season.

John Stinebaugh saddled the brown colt with Agustin Silva getting the riding call. D. Bowen, S. Taylor and J. Smith Farms bred Hes Limitless in Oklahoma.

Jess Shantastic survived an inference claim to take home $10,000 for third. Tony Sedillo trains the Fantastic Corona Jr filly from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jesses Candy. Adrain Ramos rode the Texas homebred for owner/breeder Stanley Forbes.

First Prize Friend, Suenos Dineros, Overhauling, Famous Joker, Heza Streakin Legacy, My Bodacious Miracle and A Sweet Dynasty completed the field. Mr Perrys Tres Seis and This Is An Eagle were both scratched.
