TULSA, OK—JULY 28, 2017—Sexy And I Know It B, an Oklahoma-bred son of Apollitical Jess, rolled to his second straight stakes victory at Fair Meadows Friday night when he defeated Bye Bye Birdy by three-quarters in the $17,500 Rocky Heinzig Stakes. Capshaw Capo finished a neck back in third.
Ridden by jockey Jesus Salazar, Sexy And I Know It B completed the 350 yards in :17.536 seconds, a 96-speed index into a 10 mph-crosswind. The $10,230 winners' purse boosted his career mark to more than $80,000.
Miguel Banuelos trains the gray gelding for owner Green D Ranch, LLC. Bielau Oaks bred Sexy And I Know It B from the Takin On The Cash mare Sheza Litbituino.
Larry Sharp saddled runner-up Bye Bye Birdy for owner Barbara Barley. James Flores rode the Hawkinson mare out of Sweet Bye And Bye by Zevi (TB). Steve Burns and Barley & Sharp Farm bred the 5-year-old in Missouri. Already a stakes winner, the sorrel picked up $3,410 to increase her earnings to $111,114.
Stakes-placed Capshaw Cap picked up $1,601 for owner Carmen Martinez and trainer Donald Davidson, Jr. Mario Delgado rode the 3-year-old Capo de Capi gelding out of Zoom A Strider by Shazoom. Walter Chaney is the breeder.
Country Admiral, Carters Thunder, I V Gone, Best Cash, Eyema Texas Cowboy, Kokko Wagon and Cotton Beck completed the field.
