ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 27, 2017—Alma The Younger, a 4-year-old son of New Mexico based sire Atilla's Storm (TB), rolled to a 7-˝ length wire-to-wire win in the $6,000 Best Of All Breeds Stakes (not black type) at Sweetwater Downs Sunday afternoon.
Ridden by jockey Tyson Lusk, Alma The Younger completed the 770 yards in :40.172 seconds, earning a 103-speed index. Travis Offret conditions the sorrel gelding for owner Robert Shepard.
Bred in Utah by Magdalene Cummings, Alma The Younger picked up $3,000 on Sunday to increase his bankroll to $13,603. Two races back the gelding won for a $6,500 tag at Wyoming Downs, then finished second in a handicap there on August 5.
Tebow Time (TB), a Keeneland Sale graduate finished second for owner Rushton Farms and Sheridan Rushton. Stetson Rushton trains the City place 8-year-old stakes winner from the Awesome Again mare Red Damask. Ridden by Nathan Haar, the gelding picked up $1,500 to boost his career earnings to $66,234. Reata Thoroughbred Racing Farms LLC bred Tebow Time in Florida.
Jessica Hadley's trainee, The Warden Nr, finished two-lengths back to earn $600 for third. Hadley co-owns the son of Apollo (TB) with Bailey Wilson. Uriel Dominguez rode the 5-year-old out of Chick On The Take by Chicks Beduino. A partnership of Jonas, Nolan, Barwick and Martinez bred The Warden Nr in California.
Completing the official order of finish were Holy Scat Batman, Makinabundle and Tips Grayson.
