True Copy Breaks Track Record In Juvenile at Grande Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, ALB—AUGUST 27, 2017—True Copy ran off from the field Sunday in the $4,600 Juvenile O/N Stakes (not black type) setting a new track record for 300 yards.

Ridden by jockey Scott Steer, True Copy jumped out to a quick lead and widened to 2-¼ lengths at the wire while clocking the 330 yards in :15.372 seconds, a 106-speed index into a 20-mph crosswind.

The previous record of :15.440 seconds was established July 31, 2009 by Snowbound Bug.

Trainer William Leech saddled the daughter of multiple stakes sire Tr Dasher for owner Charles Stojan. Edward Allred by True Copy in California from the Separatist mare Realistically.

The gray filly has compiled a (4) 3-1-0 record this season and today's $2,438 winners' purse boosts her earnings total to $8,874. Her only loss was second-place effort in the Jerry Stojan Memorial Stakes on July 23.

Quentis Angel, a daughter of multiple stakes sire Jet Black Patriot, picked up $1,196 for her second-place effort. Janice Sather conditions the bay filly for herself and Barry Sather. Bred in Louisiana by Kirby Bruchhaus, from the Strawflyin Buds mare Tailor Dayne, Quentis Angel was ridden by jockey Alejandro Hernandez.

Billie Bird's Otimberimfallninlove finished third for trainer Donalda Cochrane. Bred in Alberta by Wesley Oulton, the stakes winner filly is a daughter of leading Canadian sire First Timber. Ridden by Martin Ortiz, Otimberimfallninlove won the Sport Of Speed Sale Futurity in June. Out of the El Rey Burner mare Burners Beauty, she has banked $12,547 this season.
