Poutn On the Wagon Bounces Back In Alberta-Bred Derby Trials

EDMONTON, ALB—SEPTEMBER 1, 2017—Multiple graded winner Poutn On the Wagon turned the tables on Honor The Fast Man to set the fastest qualifying time for the Alberta-Bred Derby Friday night at Northlands Park.

The son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon suffered his only career loss in 10 outs in last start July 30th when he finished third to Honor The Fast Man in the Adequan Evergreen Park Derby Challenge.

Under jockey Scott Sterr Poutin The Wagon got up by a neck while clocking a :16.758 time for the 330 yards, a 101 speed index with a 3 mph tailwind, to get the top qualifying mark.

Trainer William Leech conditions the gelding for owner/breeder Pete Schoeler. Poutn On The Was is a four-time stakes winner of $73,507. He is out of the Okey Dokey Dale mare Poutnlori.

Make Er Out, a homebred daughter of leading Canadian sire First Timber racing for owner/breeder and trainer Wesley Oulton, got up at the wire in the opening trial to set the fourth fastest time of :16.992 seconds, a 93 speed index.

Out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Ima Jess A Streaker, Make Er Out has compiled a (12) 2-1-2 record and banked $9,819. Adrian Gonzalez had the riding call.

The eight fastest qualifiers will return to the Edmonton racecourse on Saturday, September 16th to vie for the winners' share of a $22,350-added purse for Alberta-bred 3-year-olds going 330 yards.
