ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 2, 2017—After posting the fastest time from five trials on August 18, Streaks of Ivory did not disappoint in Saturday’s final for the $183,810 Iowa Double Gold Futurity at Prairie Meadows. Streaks of Ivory ($3.40) covered the 350-yard distance in 17.540 to earn a 96 speed index and defeated the field by 1 ˝ lengths as the heavy favorite.

There were familiar connections in the winner’s circle for Saturday’s feature race: owners Jon and Brant Barley also own Dicecapades, winner of the Iowa Double Gold Derby in the previous race. It was also a stakes double for jockey James Flores.

Larry Sharp trains Streaks of Ivory, who broke her maiden in her trial but has been no worse than second in her five lifetime starts. With her Double Gold victory and two additional stakes appearances at Remington, she has earned $107,680 to date.

Michael Teel bred the filly in Oklahoma, by Ivory James, out of the Fredricksburg mare Streakin Rare.

Saturday’s final looked like a repeat of the second trial for the Iowa Double Gold Futurity, in which Streaks of Ivory defeated Perfect Lota by a length. Perfect Lota finished second to Streaks of Ivory again in the final, thought she closed strongly and passed half the field to do so.

Perfect Lota is trained by Stacy Charette-Hill for owner M. C. Stucks; her regular rider, Jorge Torres, was aboard. Bred in Oklahoma by David James, the Lota Pyc daughter is out of Perfection in Brown, by Dashing Cleat.

Cr Lota Girl and Brayan Velazquez finished a half-length behind Perfect Lota for third. The Iowa-bred filly is trained by Jason Olmstead, and is a homebred for Dick and Curt Tobin. Cr Lota Girl is by Lota Pyc and is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Lw Evening Lajolla.

Cr Lota Girl broke her maiden in her Double Gold Futurity trial and was the ninth fastest qualifier to the final. She began her career at Remington before racing at Canterbury and Prairie, and has been in the money in half of her starts.

Completing the field were Chick Can Fly, Jess Cuda Shuda Wuda, Rarified Air, Estrella de Noche, Bootn Scootn Corona, Okey Wind and Peves Candy Chickman.
