One Sweet Dance Rallies To Win Intermountain Futurity

ELKO, NV—SEPTEMBER 4, 2017—Fastest qualifier One Sweet Dance rallied, under jockey J. Luis Torres, to defeat Girl Like by a neck in the $37,000 Intermountain Futurity at the Elko County Fair Monday afternoon. Juno Jess finished another neck back in a blanket finish to take third.

One Sweet Dance completed the 350 yards in :17.650 seconds, a 102 speed index. It was the third win in seven starts this season for the daughter of leading third crop sire One Sweet Jess. The $14,800 winner's purse boosted her earnings total to $25,513.

Farol Cunningham saddled the futurity winner for Karla Diaz and Ed McNelis. Edward and Von Zae McNelis bred the sorrel filly in Idaho from the Splash Bac mare Bac Dancer. One Sweet Dance was a qualifier in the Hadley/Giles Memorial Futurity and the Bitterroot Futurity.

Runner-up Girl Like is a California-bred daughter of Kiddy Up racing for owner Michael McKell and trainer Jere Brinkerhoff. Robert Burney rode the bay filly out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Warm My Form. She earned $7,400 for the effort.

BNB Racing Inc.'s Juno Jess picked up $3,700 for third. Ricardo Castillo conditions the son of Jess Zoomin from the Mr Eye Opener mare Junos Eye. Winner of the Roche Equine Futurity and second in the Oneida County Fair Futurity Juno Jess has banked $16,835 this season. Jesus Valenzuela rode the Casey Humphrey Texas-bred.

Royallittlewagon, Toastdinero, The Right Version, Little Miss Disel, Dash Off To Jump, First Prize Choice and High Rate Dash completed the field.
