ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 9, 2017—Owner-trainer Jesus Carrete won two of the four trials and qualified three horses into the $100,000-added La Fiesta QH Futurity final Saturday afternoon Albuquerque Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the New Mexico racetrack Sunday, September 24th to vie for the winner's share of the purse going 400 yards.

Jockey Agustin Silva rode the first of three qualifiers for Carrete when Strykr Force rolled a 2-¼ length win in the second trial to post the top qualifying spot of :19.469 seconds, a 93 speed index into a 4-mph crosswind.

It was the second consecutive win, from only three starts, for the son of All American Futurity(G1) winner No Secrets Here.

Following a fifth-place finish in his first start at Remington Park, Strykr Force broke his maiden at Albuquerque July 29th with a sharp 1-¼ length effort. Malon Cowgill bred the earner of $13,069 in Washington from the Strawfly Special mare Fly Thru Time.

Carrete and Silva also teamed to win the opening trial with the maiden Tf Carters Pick, a gelding by multiple stakes sire Carters Cartel, who posted the fifth fastest time of :19.695 seconds. Tate Farms bred the bay gelding in Louisiana from Pick Your Passion by Special Project.

Their other qualifier, Swankee, by Mighty B Valiant, finished sixth in the final trial to get the ninth fastest time of :19.824 seconds.

Trainer Justin Joiner also saddled three qualifiers on the card including second fastest Seminole Senator who defeated his stablemate in the fourth trial by a nose in :19.577 seconds.

Winner of the Four Corners Futurity last June, Seminole Senator races for the partnership of Joe David Yates, Richard Young, Richard Sturdevant and Terry Wootan.

Wootan Racing bred the son of Louisiana Senator in Oklahoma from the Holland Ease mare Overeasy Annie. Also, a finalist in the West Texas Juvenile at Sunland, Seminole Senator has compiled a (6) 2-1-0 record and earned $45,263 this season. Salvador Martinez has the riding call.

Stablemate High Rate Of Motion, a Grade 1 qualifying son of second crop sire High Rate Of Return, finished a nose back to record the third fastest time of :19.578 seconds under champion jockey Cody Jensen.

Joiner trains the 2-yar-old for High Rate Partners 2017. A finalist in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs last July, High Rate Of Motion is out of the Brimmerton mare Brimmers Motion. Bred in Oklahoma by CNN Breeding he has banked $64,240 from a (5) 2-1-1 record.

Joiner's third qualifier, Legacist, finished second to fastest qualifier Strykr Force to get the eighth fastest time of :19.817. Billy Smith, Paul Blanchard, Fred Grooms and Doug Benson own the son of Separatist from the Walk Thru Fire mare Fire And Delight. Bred in Arkansas by Eaves Horses Family Ltd. Partnership, Legacist broke his maiden in the last start, a trial for the All American Futurity. Martinez had the riding assignment.
