Powerful Effort By Ferrari James In Grade 3 Two Rivers Stakes Win

ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 13, 2017—With a powerful effort under jockey Oscar Delgado Ferrari James defeated Bye Byefreightrain by one-length in the Grade 3 $45,000 Two Rivers Stakes Friday night at Prairie Meadows. Divas Candy Girl finished another length back for third.

Multiple stakes winner Ferrari James completed the 440 yards in :21.389 seconds to earn a 107-speed index with a 10 mph tailwind. It was the 10th career win in 19 starts for the son of Ivory James.

Trainer Kirk Clark saddled the 4-year-old gelding for owner Alfredo Botello. Bred by Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith, the Oklahoma-bred gelding is out of Ferarri Fast Prize by Mr Jess Perry. The $26,100 winners' purse boosted Ferrari James' earnings total to $211,432.

Bye Byefreighttrain races for owner/breeder L.P. Frank and trainer Kasey Willis. Benito Baca rode the graded stakes winning son of Freighttrain B from the Takin On The Cash mare Bye Bye Bygones. The $8,100 second-place payday boosted the sorrel gelding's earnings total to $267,454.

Divas Candy Girl, a sister to four-time champion Spit Curl Diva picked up $4,950 for her third place finish. Jason Olmstead saddled the daughter of Spit Curl Jess from the Some Dasher mare Some Kinda Diva. Bred in Oklahoma by Carl Pevehouse and Ezra Lee, Divas Candy Girl earned $4,960 for her effort. The multiple stakes-placed 4-yaer-old has earned more than $100,000.

First Sweet Midnite, Shiner Blond, Freakin Runaway and Boogies Special Dash completed the field. Three Olives N Smoke was scratched.
