First Moonflash Dominates New Mexico Classic Futurity Trials

HOBBS, NM—OCTOBER 14, 2017—Leading sire First Moonflash dominated trials for the $325,000-est. New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) at Zia Park Saturday by siring five finalists and four trial winners.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Hobbs, New Mexico racetrack on Sunday October 29th to vie for the winner's share of the state-bred futurity going 400 yards.

Multiple stakes finalists A Passion For Flashn won the second trial by one-length to set the top qualifying mark of :19.979 seconds into a 7 mph headwind. Jockey Manuel Gutierrez had the riding call for trainer Martin Orona, Sr.

RC Racing LLC owns the First Moonflash colt out of the Streakin Sixes mare Subtly Sixy. Bred by JMH Racing LLC, the brown colt has compiled a (8) 3-0-0 record this season while qualifying to the Zia Futurity(RG1) and Mountain Top Futurity(RG3), both at Ruidoso Downs. He has banked $53,492.

Additional qualifiers by First Moonflash were 2nd Siximoons; 4th Riverside Flash, 5th The Flash Force and 6th fastest He Be Flashy.

Other sires with multiple qualifiers were #2 Leading Second Crop sire Big Daddy Cartel and multiple stakes sire Jesse James Jr with two each.
