ROCKY VIEW COUNTY, ALB—OCTOBER 22, 2017—Honor The Fast Man drifted in under jockey Martin Ortiz but held late to defeat Dashin By All by a head in the $19,784(US) Canada Quarter Horse Cup Derby Sunday afternoon at Century Downs. North Pine Special finished half-a-length back for third.
An Alberta homebred owned-trained and bred by Tom Kenway, Honor The Fast Man completed the 400 yards in :20.067 seconds, a 103-speed index on a fast track into a 10-mph crosswind.
It was the sixth win 13 starts for the son of Honor The Perry and today's winning purse worth $9,982(US) boosted the bay gelding's earnings total to $54,681. Out of the Heza Fast Man mare Buckle High, Honor The Fast Man also won the Adequan Evergreen Park Challenge Derby and the Alberta Bred Derby this season.

Trainer Allen Goodsell saddled third-place finisher North Pine Special for owners Teagan Goodsell and Shylo Penrod. Donald Cochrane bred the brown gelding in Alberta from the Hawkinson mare Hawks Halo. The multiple stakes-placed gelding has earned $23,212.
Bringit Like Benny, Tac It Perry and Make Er Out completed the field. Streakinbabe was scratched.
