Jc Wild Rose Bounces To Top Mark in Mystery Derby Trials

CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 28, 2017—Coming off a sixth-place effort, following an awkward start in the $180,000 Grade 3 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship at Prairie Meadows October 14, Jc Wild Rose was a game winner over As And Js in the first of two trials Saturday for the $66,228 Mystery Derby at Will Rogers Downs.

Ridden by jockey Mario Delgado, Jc Wild Rose defeated As And Js by a neck while clocking the top qualifying time of :17.721 seconds, a 90-speed index for 350 yards.

Carlos Ruiz conditions the stakes winning daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess for owner/breeder Jose Cervantes. Winner of the Will Rogers Derby Challenge three races back, the sorrel filly has compiled a (15) 5-2-3 record and banked $94,382. She is out of the Stoli mare Oh Cherokee Rose.

Also, a stakes winning daughter of Apollitical Jess, As And Js held on for the second fastest time of :17.744 seconds, also a 90-speed index. Owned-and-trained by Leonardo Alcala, As And Js entered the trials off a runner-up effort in the Retama Park Derby(G3) last July.

Cesar Gomez rode the Oklahoma-bred filly out of the Tres Seis mare Adolph Tres Knockout. Winner of last year's Black Gold 350 Futurity the bay filly has earned over $276,000.

Royal Desirio was another neck back in a blanket-finish in the opening trial to record the third fastest time of :17.772 seconds. She was the first of three Desirio offspring to qualify for the Mystery Derby.

Trainer Loyd Moreland conditions the Oklahoma-bred filly for owner/breeders Ken and Reba George. The brown filly stepped-up off a $10,000 claiming win at Will Rogers on September 16. Cody Smith was riding the filly out of Designed Royal by This Snow Is Royal.

Carlos Ruiz saddled Mighty Tamale to a three-quarter-length win in the final trial to get the fourth fastest time of :17.831 seconds. The Mighty B Valiant gelding was a game winner for owner/breeder Ellen Kennedy Racing LLC.

Mario Delgado rode him to his third consecutive victory at Will Rogers since September 10. Fifth in this year's Speedhorse Derby the sorrel gelding has earned nearly $33,000.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Will Rogers Downs on Saturday, November 11th to vie for the $26,991 winner's purse.
