Second-Crop Stallion Texas Icon Sires 1-2 Finishers in AQRA Futurity

PHOENIX, AZ—OCTOBER 29, 2017—Second-crop sire Texas Icon sire 1-2 finishers Texas Tornadoe and Tanyah Tucker in the $23,655 AQRA Futurity Sunday afternoon at Turf Paradise.

Ridden by jockey Andres Osuna, Texas Tornadoe drew off from Tanyah Tucker to win by 1-¾ lengths. The brown filly completed the 350 yards in :17.723 seconds, a 95-speed index into a 10-mph crosswind.

Racing for owner Angel Valenzuela and trainer Raul Valenzuela, the Texas Icon filly was claimed two races back to Los Alamitos Race Course for $6,250.

Bred by Arizona by Ralph and Carolyn Fales, Texas Tornadoe earned $11,828 to double her earnings total to $22,205. She is out of the Thoroughbred mare Its A Dry Heat by Dixieland Heat.

Also, bred bred-and-owned by Ralph and Carolyn Fales, runner-up Tanyah Tucker earned $4,731 for second. Matthew Fales conditions the Texas Icon filly out of Phenomena by Rocky Jones. Jorge Bourdieu rode the sorrel filly.

Fernando Canales' homebred Marshall Valentine finished three-quarters back to earn a third-place payday worth $2,366. Eloy Mendoza saddled the gelding by The Bounty Man out of Terri Tazer by Panther Mountain. David Reyes-Frisby was riding.

My Pistolita, Pirteville Cartel, Dashingtexas, Desert Scorpion, Miss First N Wild, Shakin Cash and Caits Icon completed the field.
