OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 4 2017—B and G Fast Dash entered the $30,000 Races and Aces Stakes on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs winless in four lifetime starts at the racetrack.

The Kenny Roberts-trained gelding got that elusive first Evangeline Downs win by withstanding a late challenge from the 2016 winner, I’m Mighty Fast, to win in a time of :46.839 seconds, into a 4-mph headwind.

B and G Fast Dash, the 3-5 betting favorite, broke last in the field of seven, but was able to recover from that poor beginning and move into a challenging position on the far turn.

Seeyaontheotherside, a 30-1 longshot, held the lead for the early stages of the race before dropping back once the field turned for home. B and G Fast Dash moved to the lead and drew clear under jockey Donald Watson to win by 1-1/2 lengths. I’m Mighty Fast finished second and Seeyaontheotherside held on for third.

B and G Fast Dash paid $3.40 to win, $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show. I’m Mighty Fast returned $2.20 to place and $2.60 to show, while Seeyaontheotherside paid $6.40 to show.

The win was the ninth lifetime victory in 23 career starts for B and G Fast Dash, who earned $18,000 to increase his career earnings $219,870. The 5-year-old gelding was bred in Louisiana by B & G Group Investments, Inc. and is owned by Mo Racing of Oscar Rohne and Mary G. Thompson. B and G Fast Dash is by Heza Fast Dash and is out of the Gold Regent(TB) mare, Rita Regent.
