Katies Easy Moves Goes Wire To Wire In First Down Dash Handicap

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—DECEMBER 8, 2017—O-So Smart LLC’s Katies Easy Moves lived up to his name, as he made things look easy while running a flawless race to win the $30,000 First Down Dash Handicap on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Cesar De Alba, Katies Easy Moves broke super from post number four and quickly opened up a daylight advantage over Martha Wells’ Chicks Fayvorite. The leaders remained the same for the remainder of the race with Katies Easy Moves crossing the wire a half-length ahead of the strong finishing Chicks Fayvorite.

Trained by Monty Arrossa, who on Friday saddled the filly Duck Dash N Go to victory in the A Ransom Handicap, Katies Easy Moves was picking up his 12th win in 23 starts. The Maknmoves gelding earned $16,500 for the win to take his career earnings to $88,355.

Katies Easy Moves has started three times at Los Alamitos this year and he’s done well in every outing. In his first local start of the season, Katies Easy Moves was fourth against a terrific field in the Grade 1 Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship, a race won by 2015 World Champion Heza Dasha Fire.

The Walter Finder-bred runner then ran in a division of the Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trials, a race in which he was bumped at the start, surged in the middle of the race, and then settled for fifth place. Katies Easy Moves covered the 400 yards in the First Down Dash in :19.777.

Trained by Paul Jones and ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala, Chicks Fayvorite earned $6,750 for running second.

The Favorite Cartel gelding was second in the California Breeders Sprint Stakes and third in the Be A Bono Stakes earlier this year. Celina Molina’s First Moonflash gelding Viento Negro, the defending winner of the First Down Dash Handicap, earned $3,750 for running third.

Jess Paint Your Lips and Unclaimed Dividend completed the field.
